The competition brief asks to tackle the topic of heritage in a lightly urbanized part of Irpinia. The project aims at celebrating one of the most precious resources of the region: water.
A serie of fountains, water-retaining areas and linear swales are placed along two new paths that are both everyday and touristic routes connecting the small village and the mountain woods. The punctual interventions are conceived as place-making devices, taken as a pretext to introduce public spaces with very different characters that are named after big historical events from the region.
The overall intention is to extend the network of fountains existing in the region in a contemporary way, aiming at enhancing the presence of the flowing water and at the same time facilitating infiltration in the soil and preventing the risk of floods.
